Thank you for supporting the W.C. Heiam Medical Foundation! Our 21st annual benefit, “Summer Social” was held Sat., Aug. 2 on the Cook Hospital grounds with 123 people in attendance. “Mother Nature” gave us a beautiful, warm evening for the festivities and threw in a light shower just to make things interesting. Our thanks to the Cook Hospital staff for their help in hosting the event.
A delicious “Mediterranean” buffet was served, along with appetizers, beer, wine and other beverages. Randy Wall entertained the guests on piano. New to our program this year was a “Fine Wines” live auction where one bottle of donated wine was auctioned off for $1,100! Following that was our traditional live auction with the big prize – one week’s lodging on Maui. The Live Auction is always a fun way to end the evening!
We have so much support for the live and silent auctions from our local and out-of-town businesses and residents. We had some unique items in our Silent Auction, such as an antique platinum and diamond ladies’ watch, signed Minnesota “Wild” sweater, fused glass ornaments and plates, saucer-shaped fish fryer, and a “leaf” cutting board with utensils and fall table decorations, which both generated some lively bidding! We cannot thank our auction donors and guests enough!
We are very happy to announce this year’s benefit has raised $41,526.88 to date! We are especially grateful to all of you for your donations and attendance at this event. The foundation’s success has been made possible by the generous support of people like you who understand the importance of quality medical services in our community. We are especially happy to see hospital and clinic employees and board members who attend our event to show their support.
Once again, our sincere thanks for your commitment to our foundation. We will continue to work towards reaching our long-term goal of a $2 million endowment to insure that quality health care remains available in this area for future generations. But we also realize our efforts cannot stop there, as the cost of providing local health care keeps increasing every year. We will continue raising money to meet the needs of Cook Hospital and other medical services in our area and to help with recruiting of new physicians when needed. We hope you will continue your commitment and join us next year at our 22nd annual benefit planned for Saturday, August 22. Please mark your calendars now.
